The other type of assembly connects the springs to cables which run through pulleys and connect to the door (as illustrated below).

Check that none of the springs are missing and that they are connected to their anchor points. If your dishwasher uses cables, tug on the cables to make sure they are anchored on both ends.

If everything seems to be in place and attached, it may be that the springs have become stretched and are not supplying enough pull to support the door. In this case the springs should be replaced.
